New Photographer Tom Laws

Tom brings something new to our galleries a keen outdoors person and traveler capturing pictures of all sorts of things.

Tom has spent the last few years living in North Wales, when he isn’t up to his ears in work he is outside. Whether it is on, under, or by water he loves it. When the rivers are up you will find him doing laps on the Aberglaslyn Gorge in his kayak, or spinning around underwater in his glittery squirt boat. If it hasn’t rained he is most likely biking, walking, scrambling and generally running about! Tom has managed to spend all his money on a selection of big shiny lenses, and spends quite a lot of time documenting all the exciting things him and his friends get up to. He is addicted to tea.

It Doesn’t Fit

Sometime you take a picture, a picture so great you just have to have it on canvas! but it doesn’t fit the wall.

Or you don’t like the whole picture just a little bit of it, you go to the shop pages only to discover that we don’t have the size or shape that you want.

The picture on the right is one looking from Arisaig over to the small isles of Rum and Eigg, i liked the picture as a whole but i wanted it to look a little different i wanted the emphasis on the islands rather than the sand and the sky. So using photoshop i selected the bit i wanted and hey presto- new canvas art

I haven’t changed any of the constraints, i just chose a frame size 12 x 36 inches and selected the area that i wanted. It now hangs as a stunning piece of canvas art on one of our walls.

If you have a picture like the one above that isn’t just what you wanted for your canvas print then contact us and we can discuss your requirements, if the frame size you want isn’t  mentioned let us know there are just to many variations to mention them all.

New Photographer “Renae Smith”

Some words from Renae For me BEAUTY is what photography is all about.  There’s something so thrilling about catching an image that makes my soul gasp!  I’m fairly new to photography and am constantly working to learn how to capture a fragment of the beauty around me so I can share it with others.  It’s an awe-inspiring feeling. Every time I take my camera out I feel the thrill of the treasure hunt. Maybe this time I’ll find a breath-catcher! “

I love the idea of the picture on the left on Canvas what a view for a blank wall.

Puffin Print welcomes our first overseas Photographer

Welcome to Denise Foley, Denise resides in  Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.In my “real” life I’ve been a writer and editor for many years, but in the last few I have developed a passion for expressing my creativity visually. I garden and have grown many of my own photo “models.”  Though little makes me happier than to be in the garden or the woods with my cameras, much of my work is actually journalistic: I write and take photographs for the website

Artist or Photographer

Today i have been lucky enough to spend the day in front of the mac looking at pictures from Blue Fin Art i think the pictures speak for themselves.

Rod Hanchard-Goodwin, the photographer and digital artist behind Blue Fin Art, has been selling his unique photographic canvas art online and through galleries for just 2 years. Rod started creating images after coming third in a local art competition and was inspired by the local beaches in East Lothian to create his distinctive scenes.

Based near Edinburgh, Rod takes photos of landscapes throughout Scotland, and then creates a more impressionistic image using digital brushing and warping techniques. “I use the mouse a bit like a paintbrush to enhance the image, and I can intensify or dampen down the colours and features as well”, he says.

Rod’s work can often be mistaken for painting, but it’s a much more affordable option for house buyers and businesses looking for something contemporary and meaningful to decorate their homes with.
Additionally, Rod takes commissions for one-off pieces, and can also apply his techniques to digital photos supplied by his clients.

New Photographer

Gary Moffat

I started photography August 2007 (only a year or so ago), I did some graphic design many years ago with Amiga computers and early versions of Photoshop 2.5 and 3 I believe I had then. I wanted again a creative outlet and thought photography would fit in perfectly so I began reading many books and magazine on the subject trying learning everything I could.

Joined Haddington camera club and achieving most promising beginner last year I feel my photography is improving to the stage I am producing visually interesting images.
I very much enjoy landscape photography as you are out and about in all weathers enjoying the scenery and hopefully capturing the feeling you press the shutter button on the camera to capture the moment in time.

Crashing Wave

One of my favorite places in the world, the West Coast of Scotland. This picture was taken between Loch Morar and Mallaig. This picture captured the day, the wind a gentle breeze, a wee nip in the air, and stunning scenery.

This wave on canvas creates an atmosphere - the canvas gives it the third dimension, when you look at it you can almost here the wind and smell the salt.

You can purchase this canvas here.
