How We Create Your Canvas Art

Our Canon IPF6100 12 colour large format printer is capable of printing at 1200 DPI. We use a 374gsm polycotton blended canvas media with a matte finish and pH neutral artist stretch canvas designed for long‐term, fade resistant fine art or photo reproductions when imaged with pigment inks. The polyester/cotton blend canvas has a specifically designed coating which delivers superior colour gamut and resolution.

Canon LUCIA Ink

This new 12 colour ink system sets the standard in high quality, expressive colour reproduction. The complimentary colour relationship between CMYK and RGB inks enables superb distortion free, balanced colours over the entire and expansive colour space, and is colour fast for 100 years.

Varnish

The final step prior to stretching is varnish. We use Glamour™ II Veneer, a proprietary canvas varnish (and/or giclee varnish) which has been developed to protect, preserve and enhance fine art and photographic prints produced on digital inkjet printers. This new non yellowing, water based canvas varnish is perfect for inkjet print finishing. The varnish enhances the colour of pigmented inks on matte media and increases resistance to image fading. Additionally, it will protect your images against moisture and abrasion.

Canvas Stretching

We use deep and chunky 38*35mm stretcher bars as these offer best quality for weight. We only use stretcher bars which are made of high quality fir tree wood. These offer a maximum degree of warp resistance. The surface has been especially smoothed. The mortise dowel joint gives the wood a high degree of stability.

The Process

Once both you and us are happy with the image we press print, the ink is left to dry before your canvas is trimmed to the appropriate size. Varnish is applied by hand roller and then left to dry. Your canvas is then hand stretched over the stretcher bar before being firmly attached. We finish it off by adding a wall hanger and checking it’s perfect before securely wrapping and sending it to you.

special offerIf you spend £100 or more, we will give you a free 10" x 10" square canvas. Contact us for details.
