Canvas Art Care & Hanging Instructions

Now you have your canvas art at home give it a day to settle in - it’s a living thing. When the canvas leaves us we have tensioned it using the wedges you can see in the corner. Sometimes on the journey a wedge may come loose due to temperature and humidity changes. If your canvas is a little saggy across the frame, you need to tap in the wedges a little further (a TV remote control is an ideal weight for this). Don’t use a hammer as you will push the wedge in too far and change the canvas shape - just a gentle tap is required. After you have tapped the four wedges, tap a finger on the back of the canvas - it should sound tight like a drum. If not, repeat the process with some more gentle taps.

Your canvas has been coated with a protective layer. It is still good not to wet the canvas - use a duster or blow to shift any dust that may settle. Or use a dry cloth to wipe gently. Although the canvas and inks are UV stable, it is better not to hang your picture in direct sunlight. It’s also wise to avoid hanging above sources of heat or cold.

Hanging the Canvas

We have found the best way to hang is to use a screw tightened so that only 4 or 5 mm are left out the wall  (remember to use appropriate screws and plugs where needed). The frames all come with hangers attached ready for you to hang. If you’re hanging more than one, use a pencil and level to get the screws in the right place.
